GI 2000 - Cancellation of the physical event

I regret to advise that as a consequence of the slow growth in registrations, it has become no longer viable to proceed with the Conference, which in its current form was scheduled to be held at the EICC in Edinburgh on 3 - 6 December 2000.

The physical event has therefore been cancelled, despite a very strong programme of world-class experts from around the world and an impressive line-up of panellists. However, we intend to use some of the content provided by speakers and panellists to create a virtual event on the IEE Website.

Please make sure you keep the site bookmarked. The IEE takes its involvement in this particular area very seriously, and will investigate the underlying causes which led to the cancellation of the physical event. You will be kept informed of any future developments relating to this event and the topic of e-business.

What is GI 2000?

GI 2000 is a new major international Conference focusing on the strategic implications of new and emerging e-technologies on business processes.

The demands of an increasingly global market and the potential offered by advances in technology are revolutionising the way we do business. But in order to maintain control, maximise profits and reduce risks, intra-company business applications must be integrated throughout the total enterprise and beyond.

GI 2000 will look at how combining evolving business models and theories with emerging technologies can lead to a competitive, profitable and manageable global enterprise.

Internationally acclaimed speakers from industry and business will use case studies, and examples of latest thinking, to demonstrate how to maximise the potential offered by e-technologies to plan successful future corporate strategy. They will also outline how to refine business processes, improve performance and achieve significant long-term benefits.

From developing a strategic technology direction to lean enterprise management and from the virtual supply chain to the global e-market place, GI 2000 will help develop a clarity of thinking that will ensure your business prosperity in the Internet Millennium.

Get the vision at GI 2000

  • Hear from organisations which have already embraced new business models and technology within their enterprise and how these experiences can help your own future business planning.
  • Understand the business practicalities of changing global communications and information technologies.
  • Discuss your strategic business requirements with e-technology providers to help identify viable solutions to your business needs.
  • Realise the potential of over-the horizon technologies and how tomorrow's lean enterprises need to prepare today in terms of capability acquisition.
  • Network and share experiences, knowledge and ideas. GI 2000 will also provide valuable opportunities for networking at its social events.

Whilst we are supported in this event by a small number of important players in the industry, we are not providing the opportunity for suppliers to display their wares or make a sales pitch. Our aim is to give you the opportunity to come away with a vision of the future for your organisation together with an understanding of some of the issues surrounding the implementation of that vision. GI 2000 is about high level strategic thinking, not IT sales.
